Venue: Scout Hall,Thirlmere, far end of Mason Street, Thirlmere 

Date: Sunday 18th August, 2013, 9.30am, set up paints etc – 4.00pm. (10.00am start) 

Bring your lunch and your MUG, Tea and Coffee supplied. 

Cost: $25.00 WAG members - $30.00 non-members 


Bookings are to be finalised by the 31st July There will be a maximum of 15 students, so first in, first served!

MATERIALS 

WARM PRIMARY OIL COLOURS (or acrylics if you wish): French Ultramarine, Cadmium Scarlet (or  

a warm mid red), Yellow Ochre or Raw Sienna and a mid yellow. 

COOL PRIMARY COLOURS: Cobalt Blue, Alizarin Crimson (or Permanent Alizarin, Rose Madder 

Genuine, etc) and Lemon Yellow (Cad Lemon etc). 

ALSO: Viridian (or Hookers Green), Burnt Sienna (or Indian Red) and Titanium White. 

BRUSHES: El cheapo “Eterna” or “Roymac” No’s.12 – 4 will suffice, and a fine Liner brush 

and a couple of good small square brushes.


No.1 Medium, Citrus Turps or Odourless Solvent only. Please respect other students’ 

health by not using Gum or Mineral Turps for painting. 


2 x 12” x 16” (or slightly larger if you wish), Gesso’ed MDF (Craft) 3mm boards, stretched 

canvases or canvas boards etc., and loosely under-paint thinly with Raw Sienna, Yellow 

Ochre or a neutral colour (with acrylic if possible, so that they are completely dry), to get 

rid of the white. We may even get time for a second painting. 


WAG have 6 x floor, 2 x Table easels, inquire when booking.   W.A.G. Have DROP SHEETS in case of accidents! 


Bob will take you through the course with step-by-step demonstrations from one or two landscape photographs;  

with advice on composition, tone and colour mixing using a limited palette. 

Please note you will not achieve the same quality work using cheap student quality paints. If you don’t have  

all artist quality paints, I will give you a couple of dollops on your palette! It is false economy to buy, or use

Here is your chance to paint/draw your favourite PET, ANIMAL - TAME or WILD, UNICORN or FISH?

Do yourself a favour and pre-draw –up your design, so you can concentrate on the ‘GOOD BIT’ making your picture into ART.

Notice of Wollondilly Arts Group Inc AGM 2013 - 1/6/2013

Dear Members & Friends,

The WAG Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, 1st June 2013, 11.30am at the Picton Bowling Club, Argyle St  Picton .

This is an opportunity for all WAG members to decide on the office bearers for our group for the coming year and submit ideas for  annual activies

Executive positions include:

President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary,  Public Officer.

In addition to the Executive, there are also at least 3 ordinary members who assist with the work of the group in activities such as Newsletter, Publicity, Communications, Grant Applications, Fundraising and other such as Exhibitions, Markets, Workshops etc.

In order to nominate and vote you  need to be a financial member of the Wollondilly Arts Group Inc. Please note membership fees were due 1st April 2013:  Single $25, Family $40 and Concession $15. 

For those who have joined since January 2013, your membership covers you till 31st March 2014.  Everyone else will need to renew their membership prior to the meeting unless they have already done so.  


Nomination forms and a membership forms can be downloaded from this site, for you to bring or complete and return by Wednesday,  29th May 2013 in preparation for the AGM to :

Friday March 8th at TAHMOOR Community Centre: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY BREAKFAST

For those who wish to display Portraits or other works about women at THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY [BREAKFAST-BAR-B-Q] March 8th at TAHMOOR Community Centre:   

SET-UP and Delivery of WORKS, is 1-2pm THURSDAY 7th, for I.W.D. Breakfast  FRI 8th from 7am, 

Removal of WORKS - FRI 8th 2- 4pm.

The Community Centre are still not very exacting about our space, We will have a Long table [so please bring some small *table stands?? ] and Possibly space available on a fabric covered partition???

* Our I.W.D. Works will also be featured in WAG 7. If you wish to display work please let Julie know, 4683 0808.

You are invited to the opening of  Works by WAG 7 the Annual exhibition by members of the Wollondilly Arts Group on Saturday, 16th March, 2013 at 2pm at the Wollondilly Shire Hall,  Menangle Street, Picton.  Light refreshments will  be provided.

Come in and vote for the  ‘People’s Choice’ Award. 


WAG 7 will be open from Saturday  16th March to Sunday March 24th  from 10am - 4pm.

Exhibition -WORKS NEEDED

The Council has offered us a free Exhibition, in the Picton Shire Hall’s new gallery space. We need hanging works and 3 dimensional works also from our members. We are unsure how much work will be hung or displayed but will try to exhibit all works submitted.

The dates are; 

*DELIVERY OF WORKS from 10-11am WEDNESDAY 12th DEC to be HUNG by 1pm, by WAG Committee.

*Opening with INVITED GUESTS  5-7pm Wednesday evening.

*then on Thursday 13th, Friday 14th 10 am to 4 pm and Saturday 15th DEC 10 am to 3pm. *To be removed on Saturday afternoon from 3pm- 4pm.

If you need help transporting works at these times PLEASE let Committee know so arrangements can be made.

Please make sure works have GALLERY fittings.

Saturday 3rd November 2012  Wollondilly Arts Group PORTRAIT WORKSHOP WITH STEVE UNDERWOOD 10.00AM TO 4PM

Conducted for Wollondilly Arts Group by well known local artist Steve Underwood a fulltime artist and a gifted teacher, teaching both beginners and advanced and works mainly in oils He paints in a real but impressionistic style, painting landscape and portraiture.  A selection of his work is on display for viewing on his page

We will be painting one of Steve’s beautiful daughters, 

**STEVE WILL BE SUPPLYING, a DRAWN-UP BOARD. So we can concentrate on the paint application and not the drawing up. Please bring;pencil and paper for note taking, and any oil paints you may have, esp; Basic 

colours: White, Cad Red, Cad-Yellow, Yellow-Ochre, U.M.Blue, plus Burnt Sienna. Also bring the normal paper towels, palette and brushes, at least a couple of LONG flat bristles sizes-10,8, Nylon-4,and a pointed detail brush an easel to support the size of the board. Couple of bulldog clips. Low odour solvent ********BRING LUNCH ********  Morning tea will be supplied.  *Six floor easels available- inquire when booking.
